The Turtleneck
autumn is here and it brought one trend back i waited for all summer - the turtleneck!
with hairs plugged in and neutral colors this look is just right up my street. heavy knits or smooth cashmere, i don't care as long as it is cozy and keeps me warm!

Real vs Steal
sure, no doubt. the steal can never replace the real, but when it comes this close it definitely is an acceptable option for all of us with a low budget.
and when it comes to trend pieces like a baby pink backpack, the steal sometimes may be the better choice.
sure, what makes a mansur gavriel bag so special is the perfect leather, but this topshop copy is a good option, as it is a real leather bag for just a fraction of the cost.
the price for the mansur gavriel backpack is 700 € (950 $). topshops version is on sale right now and costs 40 € (down from 105 €).
a pink backpack is not on my wishlist, to be honest not at all...but i think it's a beautiful bag and i wanted to share this awesome find with you! didn't do a real vs steal in a long time, but this one was definitely worth to revive this category.

Natural Beauty
lately i'm absolutely into the natural look. wether it's makeup or hair, less is more for me. i'm so over the done look, with perfect curled or straight hair, the perfect matte teint with a cat eye and red lips.
NO THANKS!
one thing that i'm so done with, and i never really liked, is the matte teint look.
all of my girls are OBSESSED with looking all matte, every little glow gets killed right away with tons of powder and called 'greasy' skin. but it's their choice. they CAN have the glow, the 'freshly moisturized' look, they simply don't want to.
for me that was no option the last years, cause acne covering make up and a natural glow don't go together. if you want to hide your cysts and scars you gotta go matte.
but now my skin is getting better, after all this years, and i start to love highlighters and shimmer all over my face.
don't mistake me, i'm not talking about glitter! not at all! i'm talking about a soft shimmer on cheekbones, nose and forehead. and the perfect foundation for the natural look is the 'le teint touche eclat' from yves saint laurent. it has a light to medium coverage and perfectly reflects light which lets your skin look so fresh and moisturized.
for the look i focus on my skin, try to let it shine and look healthy, i use a beige-rose blush and some bronzer to contour and blend and fix it with some 'mineral veil' powder from bare minerals.
i keep the eyes natural and just use a subtle natural color of my urban decay 'naked' palette.
i skip the mascara and accent my eyebrows with my mac eyebrow pencil in 'fling' which is the perfect color for me.
as i can't skip the lips as a lipstick junkie, and cause it's a natrural look, i prefer a nude shade. as most of the classic nudes don't suit me, i go for a more pinkish shade, which lets me look fresh and healthy.
for the hair i just use some volume and sea salt spray and let it air dry to get the perfect beachy waves. lately i'm quite obsessed with natural blonde shades. since last summer i'm trying to grow out the color and get back to my natural haircolor and then just glaze it to get this ally mcbeal dark blonde look (here).
who else likes this natural glow look? whats your number one beauty trend for spring/summer?

Trend Alert: Birkenstocks
birkenstocks, it's a love or hate thing. some are head over (no) heel into this super mega trend, some would rather walk barefoot. but what's for sure, this is one of the biggest trends this summer.
every hip brand made look a likes and even the ss14 runways were full of them.
and when british vogue styles a whole editorial with them on topmodel miranda kerr, this definitely is a big thing.
this trend is just right down my alley! i love my bircks and had spend almost complete last summer in them. they are comfortable and look super trendy when styled with some chic and minimalistic outfits.
you will definitely see me in my bircks this summer, what about you? is it a love or hate thing?

Marble Marble
another thing the 90s revival brought back: marble.
yes, marble. absolutely trendy in the 90s and absolute kitsch a long time afterwards.
funny how something that was such a big no-go for years can appear so fresh and sophisticated.
and since there are people like Joyce from MyDubio we all can diy that great trend so easily at home. so grap some marble foil and give that old flower pot a mare-over!

The Swoosh

![]() |
| (images via The Fashion Menue and Pinterest) |
this undone sophisticated hair do is not new, but definitely one of the hottest styles at the moment, and worth a mention.
it's a must for every cool kid on the block, and for me the best the 90s revival brought yet (remember cindy crawford and leo dicaprio?!).
it works with almost every hair, if curly, straight, messy or with a perfect salon blow-out.
it almost instantly gives you a sexy, nonchalant and wild look, no matter if your hair is long or short.
the secret to this style: volume volume volume.
so get your volume spray, hair dryer and some volume powder and your ready for this seasons hottest style.
for best results spray volume spray (e.g. bumble and bumble thickening hair spray) to the roots, blow dry hair upside down until almost dry.
then blow-dry roots in the opposite direction as you want them to lie (that gives them extra volume) and let them cool down.
now comb hair with your fingers and 'swoosh' (flip) your hair to the side.
give some volume powder to the roots for the wawawhooom volume.
for a messy look you can add some sea salt spray or texturing cream.
and thats it!

Mules
Did anyone wonder what to save for this spring/summer? the new shoe trend this year are ...tadadada...mules!
yes, mules. they made their way back all from the 90's and look super chic and fresh. and who could be better to proove that than the queen of perfect effortless style elin kling? she rocked the new trend on fashion week last summer and since then these pictures of her and her perfect céline mules were featured on different style blogs and magazines.
ok, let's be honest, this is maybe not the comfiest trend and there are far more practical shoes out there. but for me it's one of the freshest and most exciting releases. and they look way more practical than the 90's versions. you remember those you had to hold with your toes to not loose them?
so now we just have to hope for a budget one, cause for now there are only alexander wangs, sergio rossis and célines out there, and not all of us have a 500 and up budget for shoes.
so zara, our favourite copycat number one, come on! this trend is made for you!

if there was this perfect world, the one where money and clothing size doesn't matter, i would definitely wear this today! well ok, this world does exist for a lucky few, but not for me (lets say it different; not yet for me).
i do like this chequer trend, but i think i do have to loose a few more pounds to participate without looking like a fool. and maybe then i'll go and try to find a more affordable version of this outfit.
well, maybe^^
you can find these beauties here:
McQ Alexander McQueen skirt here
Fendi leather shirt here
Proenza Schouler PS11 here

Fashionable Biking
i rediscovered biking as a great way to travel. it just happend this year when my mum bought a bike for me and persuaded me to go for a little bike tour. and what can i say? since then i love it! everytime i'm there i'll find an opportunity to get my bike out and ride it.
one of the major reasons i didn't even consider riding a bike was the thought that you can never ride a bike AND be dressed fashionable the same time. i love high heels, and most of my clothes look nice, but aren't that practical. but my biggest problem is my obsession for huge huge bags!
where the heck can i put my giant bags without jeopardizing them?! well, to be honest, i didn't find a solution for that problem yet. so for the moment i have to content myself with the medium size bags that would fit into my bicycle bascket when i plan to ride my bike.
but the rest is absolute viable, like high heels (esp stilletos) or wide leg pants (just put a hair tie around your ankle and stuff the seam under it).
but there are a few things you should avoide when riding a bike (not just for your best, but also for the other people that see you on the street^^):
- don't wear hipsters (nobody wnats to see your plumber's crack)
- don't wear mini skirts (same with your slip - that's nobody elses' business)
- no smartphone (accident risk! facebook&co can wait until you reached your destination safely)
i think that's all. hmmm, i guess i should all tell you now to wear a helmet - yeah, do that! well actually, i don't...

Real and Steal: Alexander Wang Dasha Boots
![]() |
| images via Victoria Törnegren, Alexander Wang and Choies |
I have a crush on these Alexander Wang Dasha booties since i saw them for the first time, and some days ago i saw they're on SALE. but they're still FAR out of my budget right now, though i would really love to own this beautifull pair of shoes.
today i saw the gorgeous victoria törnegren rockin these babes in her blogpost. i was quite sure she's wearing the A.Wangs, but then when i checked on her shirt i saw her shoes are from choies.
so choies did it again, they seem to have the just EXACT same shoe in store. when i had a closer look at the choies picture i recognized they just took the A.Wang picture and photoshoped the labels name on the inside sole and the reflection beneath.
well, i think thats quite presuming. i do want to see the product i want to purchase, and not just an image of the product it was inspired by. though they seem to look great, as we can see on victoria törnegrens outfit picture.
ok, here are some facts:
the Alexander Wang Dasha boots are on sale right now. the old price was 685 $ (~533 €), the sale price is 432 $ (~336 €), which is a quite big reduction. they're available here
the choies price is 109,99 € and according to choies 100% real leather. available here

Trend Alert: Stripes
![]() |
| images via pinterest.com, tumblr.com |
sure, stripes aren't new, not to me and not to you. they come back every spring and dominate our waredrobe. but this year they are hot hot hot! before it was the classic striped shirt, the coco style, that was found in every fashionable waredrobe as a basic. but now they are everywhere. you'll find them on any kind of pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, shirts and jackets. the classic blue or black and white stripe combo still dominates, but you can find them in any kind of color combination this summer. why not go for an blue-green striped silk blouse?
pants with longitudinal stripes are a big deal this summer. they apeared last summer in form of skinny jeans with black and white stripes (e.g. mango) and were sold out in a second. this summer you find them in any form, like marlene, flaired or shorts.
the stripes took the plunge from the maritime look into the big fashion world. sure, you can still wear them in a classy maritime coco look, but why not trying something new? just experiment, now is the time for that^^ mix a striped shirt with leo or floral prints, break a maritime look with a heavy leather jacket and boots. your imagination sets the limits!
what are your favourite striped looks or outfits?

Summer Knits
![]() |
| images via fashionscansremastered.net |
here's some sommer for you! lately the sun plays hide and seek with us, which makes it quite hard to pick the right outfit in the morning. it's either to warm or to cold, which can get quite annoying after some time.
so the perfect choise is a summer knit. yes, you heared right, knit. i'm not talking about that heavy woolen knits we love to wear during winter. summer knits are made of cotton or other light materials which keep you warm when you need it, but won't make you sweat and let your skin breathe when the sun comes out. you can wear it casual with jeans, shorts or over a light summer dress. and if you totally fall for this trend, yes, you can even wear it at the beach over your bikini.
this trend looks very grown up to me, i bought a summer knit some days ago and first saw my mother in that mirror, but then i realised it was me. i decided that i'm old enough now to go for a more mature look, and no, that doesn't mean you have to look like a fulltime mum and housewife. this trend is sexy and easy going, just what i want this summer.
can i get an amen from all that sexy and stylish mummies out there?!
this editorial was in vogue espana june 2013, photographed by miguel reveriego. model is the amazing marique schimmel.
