Recipe: Mediterranean Tomato Sauce with Sardines

this is my favourite pasta sauce ever! you can skip the sardines if you don't like them, but i love it!
i eat this for lunch, as i try to avoid carbs in the evening. for dinner you could just skip the pasta and double the veggies, tastes great as well!

ok, let's get started:

what you'll need for 4-5 servings:

  • 1 large or 2 medium onions
  • 3 medium garlic clove
  • 1 large zucchini
  • 1 red bell pepper (paprika)
  • 1 yellow bell pepper (paprika)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • about 30-40g sardines from a jar (half a jar)
  • some oil
  • some dried italian herbs (oregano, thyme, ect)
  • bell pepper (paprika) powder
  • pepper
  • salt (for the sauce just if you skip the sardines)
  • fresh basil
  • 250g whole grain pasta (i used organic penne)

what to do:

cut onions and garlic into small pieces and fry in oil for about 3 minutes.
cut zucchini and bell peppers into pieces and stew with onions and garlic for about 10 minutes.
add diced tomatoes and sardines und let it cook for about 15-20 minutes. season with italian herbs, bell pepper powder and pepper. (no salt! the sardines are VERY salty).
cook pasta in salted water for about 8-10 minutes.
serve with lots of fresh basil and some grated parmesan if you want to.

whats your favourite pasta sauce? do you like sardines? i love them, but do understand why some hate them^^

Wish I Was Wearing

i love simple looks! it's so pretty to make each piece stand out without competing.
i think there's a special beauty in simplicity and  minimalism. you take everything thats not necessary and in the end you are left with the essentials. just the things you love, not an overload of things you like. i'm not just talking about fashion alone, i mean life in general!

this is a classic black and white look with a horn box bag as highlight. i love each piece here and i think every single one would be worth a purchase, what makes it my current wishlist (at least a part of it^^). in fact, i just ordered some Dior double earring look a likeS and can't wait to wear them!

pants - JOSEPH
shirt, shoes and box bag - ZARA
sunglasses - CELINE
double pearls earrings and highlighter - DIOR
bracelet - JENNIFER ZEUNER
lipstick - CHANEL

Oh Rainy Day

we had so nice weather the last few weeks, a lot of sun, not too much rain and quite warm.
so i made the plan to take some outfit pictures when i visited my family and took lots of clothes with me. but then, just the minute we startet to shoot the first outfit it started to rain, and never stopped.
but at least i have one picture to show you, more than i had before.^^
i want to try to always see the positive, and it turns out to be harder than i thought!

latley i really love my chanel lookalike bag i bought in december, i try to wear it as much as i can.
do you have such pieces you want to wear everyday, but they are too unfunctional or uncomfortable (like the shoes i wear on the picture^^)?

Trend Alert: Birkenstocks

birkenstocks, it's a love or hate thing. some are head over (no) heel into this super mega trend, some would rather walk barefoot. but what's for sure, this is one of the biggest trends this summer.
every hip brand made look a likes and even the ss14 runways were full of them.
and when british vogue styles a whole editorial with them on topmodel miranda kerr, this definitely is a big thing.

this trend is just right down my alley! i love my bircks and had spend almost complete last summer in them. they are comfortable and look super trendy when styled with some chic and minimalistic outfits.

you will definitely see me in my bircks this summer, what about you? is it a love or hate thing?

Coconut Noodle Salad - Asia Style

here's a yummy, easy, quick and quite healthy recipe for you.
this is one of those recipes that are born when you just throw together what's left cause you failed at planning your grocery shopping.
it was planned as a warm dish, but turned out to be waaaay better when cold. but either way, it's great and perfect as a starter or a light lunch or dinner.

what you'll need for 2-3 servings:

  • a bunch of rice noodles (about 80g)
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1/2 can unsweetened coconut milk (200-250ml)
  • asian veggies (i used a mixed can wok veggies, but you can use fresh ones as well - good handfull soy bean sprouts, 2 carrots cut in strips, mu err mushrooms, bamboo shoots and babycorn)
  • a bunch of coriander and other herbs
  • soy sauce

what to do:

let rice noodles soak for 5 minutes in one cup of vegetable broth, or if you use a can with veggies you can let it soak in the water thats in the can.

cut zucchini in slices and half them, fry in (coconut) oil until slightly brown. then add veggies and noodles with the liquid, add coconut milk and let cook for another 5-7 minutes. season with soy sauce and maybe some pepper.
serve with lots of fresh herbs, as coriander which fits perfectly!

let me know if you tried it and if you liked it! do you have one of those recipes that were born this way? let me know what it was!

Pink Lips

as you can see i was inspired by garance doré, i love her illustrations and my drawing style is greatly influenced by her, as you can tell by this picture. i did this one in photoshop with a graphic tablet. i love to paint this way, though i still have my little problems with it. but no one is born as a master and i'm still learning.

i love pink lipsticks, they look so fresh and glamorous without looking too fierce. they are the perfect option to red and make you look younger and happier.
i own more pink lipsticks as i want to admit, in every shade and with different undertones. but i have two favorites. here they are for you.

the yves saint laurent rouge volupté shine nr. 12 is my favorite lipsticks of all. i love everything about it! the light texture, the color and of corse this luxurious looking golden tube. it was the first one i tried and what can i say, love at first sight. it's perfect for every day with it's sheer color, but when layered also the perfect choice for an evening make-up.
the only thing i have to criticize is, this lipstick smears and runs pretty fast when you don't wear a primer under it. but that is the only disadvantage...ok maybe the price is another one as well^^ i paid 32 euro for it, but it's worth every cent!

the other one is a more affordable one from astor. it's a lipcolor butter and very shiny and light, but has a full coverage. it feels like a very light lip balm, but the color is so vibrant, like it says, ultra vibrant. thats definitely true! the price lies around 7 euro and is more than ok.
but this lipstick really needs a lot of dedication. once applied it will stay true to you the whole day. it's like the pigments sink into your lips, even when wiped away with make-up remover your lips are still very pinkish.

The Green Scarf

this new silkscarf trend popping up everywhere (again first seen on elin kling) is a nice sophisticated way to upgrade a rather boring outfit. give it an even more glamorous touch with some cat eye shades. and as this green silkscarf was waiting for years now to see daylight after i bought it in amsterdam in 2008 it finally had its debut.

so far i like this look, though it feels a bit stuffy. but, whats so bad about that?
maybe we all need a bit more of that spirit in these days^^

though spring is there and temperature is rising, i'm really into fur right now. on chairs, beds, tables or on the floor - i just love it!

Bye Bye Winter Coats

as winter is officially over now, i start to enjoy the thought of spring coming, actually it's just around the corner.
but seeing this ladies with their gorgeous coats something deep inside of me screams 'snnooow'! we had no snow over here and the temperatures barely even dropped under 0°C this winter.
but i guess there is enough  time to wear all these beautiful coats next winter!
so let's all say goodbye to the woolen ones and pass over to over beloved trenchcoats and leatherjackets and embrace the sunny weather!
